GETTING AROUND

 

21.1km & 10km Access Map

 

Bundaberg Port Road will be CLOSED between 5:50am and 7:45am.  Burnett Heads Road and Zunker St intersection will be closed from 6:30am to 10:00am.  There are only two access points to the 21.1km and 10km Starts at the Bundaberg Port Marina.  Access is via the Bundaberg Port Road or Zunker Street.  Secondary roads will be closed.  All roads are under Police and Traffic Management control.

 

 

GETTING THERE - 21.1KM

The 21.1km race starts at the Bundaberg Port Marina Roundabout at 6:20am.  21.1k participants are directed to access their start area and parking at the Bundaberg Port Marina via Zunker Street (Burnett Heads) as this access will be available at all times up to the start of your event. Parking attendants will be there to direct traffic and assist with parking. There is ample parking available.

 

GETTING THERE - 10KM

The 10km race starts in the PORT Marina Roundabout at 8:45am.  10km participants are directed to access their start area and parking at the Bundaberg Port Marina via the Bundaberg Port Road. Parking attendants will be there to direct traffic and assist with parking.  There is ample parking available.

Bundaberg Port Road is officially CLOSED between 5:50am and 7:45am. However, the Police will be doing a rolling re-opening of the Bundaberg Port Road as soon as the last 21.1km entrant passes through. So it will likely be re-opened by 7:30am or earlier.  

 

PLAN YOUR ACCESS OR DROP OFF as the 10km Start Category has LIMITED time to access their start at the PORT.

  

4km Access Map

PLEASE NOTE Fred Courtice Dr will be CLOSED between 7:30am and 11:30am.  The Esplanade will be CLOSED between 8:45am to Approx 11:00am. 

 

GETTING THERE - 4KM

The 4km race starts at 9:30am at Nielson Park, Bargara by the corner of Garretts Way and Fred Courtice Drive. 4km participants and spectators are directed to access Nielson Park via Holland Street to Garrretts Way.  Access to parking at Nielson Park will remain open via Holland Street and Garetts Way throughout the event.  

 

The Esplanade and all adjoining roads with be closed for the 4km race from 8:45am until Approx. 11:00am.  The Esplanade may re-open earlier depending on when participants finish. Fred Courtice Road will be CLOSED from 7:30am until 11:30 as the 21km and 10km particiapants will be using that as part of the course coming from the Bundaberg Port Marina.

There is plenty of parking in designated area at the PORT.  

There is designated parking for 21.1km participants.  Access to 21.1km parking is via Zunker Street (Burnett Heads) to Harbour Esplanade.  Attendants will be directing cars into the parking area.

10km participants are directed to access their start area and parking at the Bundaberg Port Marina via the Bundaberg Port Road. Parking attendants will be there to direct traffic and assist with parking.

There will be designated parking on the grassy areas at Nielson Park.  

There is designated parking for 4km participants and spectators.  Access to 4km & finish area parking is via Holland Street to Garretts Way.   Attendants will be directing cars into the parking area.

 

RACE PACKs for out-of-towners - 21km

There will be an ADMIN person at the start where you can pick up race gear if you are coming from out of town.  Please give plenty of time for this as there are not many people managing late regos and gear drop-off.

RACE PACKs for out-of-towners - 4km

There will be an ADMIN person at the start where you can pick up race gear if you are coming from out of town.  Please give plenty of time for this as there are not many people managing late regos.

 

BAG DROP OFF

For 21.1km and 10km participants there will also be the facility to drop off race bags to the ADMIN person with the baggage tag from the bottom of your race bib attached.  

 

WATER STATIONS

There are lots water stations between your start and the finish - and then another at the finish.   They are placed regularly along the course. Plastic cups are provided at each water station and a bottle of water and fruit at the finish.

TOILETS

There are toilets (public or portaloos) at lots of locations along the course.

 

ZIG ZAG GATES (Mon Repos)

 

At locations on the Mon Repos Walkng Turtle Track and Barolin Reserve Trail where there are Zig Zag Gates we have opened a nearby gate to allow easy passage for entrants.  Please be aware that there is one Zig Zag gate on the Mon Repos Trail that does not have a accessable gate.  We will have a voluteer stationed there.  

 

MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

If you need any assistance - call 000   All emergency services are aware or involved.

1.  There are nurses at all the water stations

2.  There are surf life savers on bikes and foot along the course

3.  An ambulance follows the final runner and there is an ambulance waiting on call to come back against the runners if necessary.

 

COURSE TIME LIMIT

The roads are closed and reopened by the police - not the race organisers - we just make the requests and the plans.  If you are too slow the police who follow the race will ask you to get in the stragglers bus and you will be moved up the course or to the end.

 

BUSES BACK TO THE START

The buses will run to take you from the finish to the 21.1km and 10km starts.  The schedule will be announced at the finish.  Please enjoy the finish area and be patient.
